Sites and Grid References ...

I am currently involved with updating the 'Sites Register' which we are required to supply for the HBWC / NEYEDC digitisation of records project which many of you will have heard at least something about.

Whilst I have managed to trace 6-figure grid refs for the majority of sites from which we have received records there are still some that have eluded / defeated me. These are listed below: if any of you who read this recognise the sites as 'his' or 'hers' I would appreciative it greatly if you could supply me with same. The reference could be posted here, or, if preferred, I can be emailed directly on

Butterfieldd60@googlemail. com

The missing grid refs are for

Almondbury / Royd House
Barndale Moor
Blake Clough
Blue Lagoon
Broadstone 'flash'
Chew Brook
Chew Head
Dalton / Black Horse pub
Diggle Brook / Dobcrops
Digley / Blackpool Bridge
Hollin House
Holm Royd Wood
Holmfirth / Cricket Club
Holmfirth / Sands Recreation Ground
Inglees
Kirkheaton 'bricks'
Langsett / Low Moor
Langsett / Midhope
Law Bottom
Law Bottom House
Lockwood / Woodfield Park
Marsden / Eastergate
Marsden / Sandhill
Meltham 'Catchment'
Meltham / Cop Hill [as against Meltham Cop - is it different?]
Midhopestones
New Dam
New Hey Farm
New Mill / Mount Scar
Norland Moor
Penistone / Joan Roy Lane
Ramdsen Mill Dam
Redbrook engine house
Ridings Reservoir
Rishworth Moor
Bullhouse - on the Trans-Pennine Trail
Whitley Airfield
Whitwell Moor
Winscar / Dob Dyke
Winscar / Ramsden

I am not so sure of the spelling of, or the accuracy of, some of these names, and some may even be outside of the Club's recording area. Any information on this score that anyone can give will also be appreciated

Thank you!

David, here are a few of them (all SE, obviously).

Blue Lagoon  087093
Broadstone flash  190062
Holmroyd (sic) Wood 132099
Kirkheaton bricks  187174
New Dam  130096
Norland Moor  060217
Whitley airfield  197057
Cop Hill is the same as Meltham Cop

Might have an idea about a couple of the others if you don't get any definite answers from elsewhere.

Thanks, Steve.

From this it would seem, as I thought, that both Langsett sites are just outside the southern limit of the Club's recording area.

That's the problem with the Langsett area - you have difficulty in knowing just when you are inside or outside the club area so tend to report all sightings and let the Recorder sort it out.

  Cool

Down to the last 10 sites , now, to complete for the time being at least those required. These are:-

Dalton / Black Horse ... can't believe I don't know where the pub is!
Holmfirth / Sands Recreation Ground
Lockwood / Woodfield Park
Marsden / Sandhills
New Hey Farm
Penistone / Joan Roy Lane
Bullhouse
Whitwell Moor
and the two Winscar sites Dob Dyke and Ramsden (?)

Haven't got my map on me but apparently there's a Black Horse on Briggate in Dalton. Also there's a Woodfield Park Cricket Club going out of Lockwood towards Netherton (opposite the cemetery?).

I think I can do all of these except Marsden/Sandhills, New Hey Farm (but possibly), Joan Roy Lane.
Whitwell Moor is definitely outside our area.
Detailos tomorrow when sober.
