Grayling today, 25/07/10. A quick check in not exactly perfect conditions this aft revealed at least 3, possibly a few more. Also there: a gigantic fresh Peacock.

Dear All

Just a reminder this year's butterfly walk is this coming Saturday. Forecast is a bit mixed at the moment but we'll have to wait and see. See the Club main website for full details.

Did a reccy around Thunderbridge last Saturday and bumped into Nick Mallinson. Good views of WLH were obtained along with good numbers of the commoner species.

Cheers,
Steve

Grant, this is a male Ruddy Darter. Check the pinched-in abdomen. What could be taken as white on the legs is just reflection I think. Good record. It was local I take it?

I am sorry to say on this occasion it wasn't it was taken at Fairburn Ings (which in a way is local) I was confused by it like you say David it has that pinched in abdomen which was throwing me off and I knew there was a couple of Dragon experts out there that would ID it for me , thanks. I have been watching Common Darter all week at work, which is why I revisited this pic,  so may be now I will be able to pick out a Ruddy when the time comes so the next picture might be within the Hudds area, thanks again for your help
