last week i tramped a moor looking in vain for lap bunting - holme moss has some poss habitat and, given spurn had 70 (!) comm buzzards thru yesterday I tried the site for both this pm.

3 common buzz together hanging over the top and 2 wheatears, no lap bunt thom so unamused my old bradford vis mig mate had one on old patch today. plus masses of hirundines apparently inc house martins (cf my other post)

3 more wheatears at the, now sadly drained, whitley common

heard green woodpecker close to upper Hagg wood on 1ST,found blackcap on path yesterday-window crash sadly, treecreeper,GSW and 2 nuthatches today in Honley wood. 4 tufted on Windy bank res.
Stopped feeding a while back because a cat was grabbing the birds, not able to shoot it like the squirrels so had to purchase expensive ultrasonic device from RSPB.I had a cheap one years ago that kept 3 of the neighbours 4 cats away,The 4th was white and the notes with this scarer inform me that white cats are deaf to these ultrasonics!

Save one for me, Alfie. For the first time ever I'll be able to read my name in a YNU report!
All being well will be there on Tues.

Many thanks

Russ

Out from 07:15 this am. Quick call at Ingbirchworth where Greenshank and juv. Shelducks.
Spent a few hours at Scout Dike - 11 Herons ( 6 down and 5 over) was a patch record for me, but totally eclipsed by 9 Yellow Wags in a field on the S side, doing what they should by feeding around cows' feet - without blowing my own trumpet, this must be one of the best counts in Hudds in recent years, also single Greenshank, juv. Ringed Plover, and Lesser 'throat. A Common Buzzard flew E at c10.40 hrs.
At Royd Moor Res. - 49 Greylags (yawn) another record count for me oop here. Common Buzzard S at 10.34 hrs.

An hour or two then at Hartcliffe Hill with another 3 Buzzards (two towards Cranberry and one over Langsett), but hardly any passerines.

Anglers reported a swift at Scout Dike yesterday (3rd).

Grant, can you send me your email address. It's on my old computer which I can't access at the moment. My new email address is the same except ending in @sky.com instead of @ntlworld.com.
