Duck at Broadstones

At Broadstones today I came across two ducks which I wasn't quite comfortable with identifying.  Initially I thought they were female Mallards but closer inspection revealed a longer-than-expected bill and no blue patch on the side.  I managed to get a pic of one of the ducks, although the length of the bill isn't entirely clear owing to the angle.  I started thinking female Shoveler, but wasn't sure that the bill was long enough.

I'd be grateful for any help with this.

Looks like Mallard to me Phil, attached pic of Shoveler which hopefully shows how 'heavy' looking the bill is on a Shoveler.

In general most ducks at this time of year look like 'female types' due to annual moult

Many thanks David.  I guess male Mallard in eclipse with slightly longer-than-normal bill makes good sense.
