Any ideas what this could be?  That black eye mask is very unusual... I've encouraged the photo taker to send it to the Gtr Manchester county recorder (it was taken in Hulme, Manchester)

Hi Ollie,

Could be a White Bellied Cuckoo Shrike? Not sure whether they are popular aviary birds or not, but it may have been part of a UK zoo/bird garden collection somewhere? It is an Australian species in the wild.

Again....total stab in the dark! I haven't a clue what it is either!! Looks a decent size though and quite stocky, so may not be a shrike at all?
